The copyright question
Just how far does the copyright of a work of art extend? The release of the film 'When Brendan Met Trudy' at the weekend highlighted the hoops through which producers are expected to go in order to obtain permission to transmit images, music and even words. Permission had to be sought even to use the word 'Montessori' in the film. In the USA, according to the Naomi Klein book 'No Logo', Dairy Queen bakers won't squirt Bart Simpson images onto frozen birthday cakes for fear of a lawsuit from Fox Films. Do we contravene copyright every time we tape from a CD, download from Napster, do a mural on a romper room wall or send someone a home made birthday card?
Gilbert O'Sullivan, Singer/Songwriter, discusses what is at stake for the artist.
Rattlebag, Tuesday 27 March 2001

Gilbert O'Sullivan is back! It's hard not to have noticed that Gilbert O'Sullivan is back. With his new song getting plenty of airplay, and sell-out shows in Dublin and Cork coming up, the man from Waterford is enjoying something of a revival.

Gilbert O'Sullivan talks to Kay Sheehy about his career to date.

PLEASE NOTE: The March 27th show starts with the ending of the previous radio program.
