Asked how he feels about the revival hit of Alone Again, Gilbert said, "it’s very nice to get the new audience and fans. I hope they are also interested in my other songs. I’m still making new song as before. If not, I wont’ come to Japan. It’s essential for me create good songs than to perform in concert and to record songs. It’s very difficult to make good melodies. Recently many artists call themselves songwriters, although they just write lyrics. The word songwriter seems to be used at ease." Asked what the definition of a good song is Gilbert said, "It must be simple. I write songs from 9AM to 5PM from Monday to Friday. It’s very important to write songs during a given time every day without being effected by your state of mind. I am moved every time I can create good melodies, no matter how much you’ve made. It’s the best thing about this job. And you can’t learn enough. Even Paul McCartney is still making music."
