MicWud@aol.comI am a real big Motley Crue fan. Kind of odd for a person thats only 19 years old. And, since I am such a big fan of Motley Crue, I bought their bassists project band's album. Nikki Sixx is the founder of Motley Crue and he created this solo project band named "58". So, I bought it right...Well, anyways, one of the songs is Alone Again (Naturally). I really enjoy both versions of the song. Tonite is the first time I have heard either. Anyways, I want to tell you, thanks to Nikki Sixx, I am now a Gilbert O'Sullivan fan. I didn't see anything about the 58 album including the song on your website so I figured I should tell you. The 58 album is really hard to find and not really promoted at all because it isn't on a major label. So, if you plan on listening to the song please buy the album. I may now be the officially youngest GOS fan...Haha...Anyways, later dude

Swindon, EnglandAs I am attached to the family(my mother is Gilbert's sister),you may think this is a bit cheap, but my uncle Ray was writing songs before i was born but even as i listen to them now, i can see why they were such big hit's. I speak to Gilbert(Ray) frequently and i know he is very flattered that you have set up this site!. Please keep up the good work!!!!!! Yours Sincerely Paul Shelford.

verdier@tin.itHi Joe,
Hi!I'm a 28 years old italian fan since when I was a child and during this years I spent most of my life with Gilbert's songs. I think that ALONE AGAIN is the biggest song of all times and CLAIR the sweetest. God bless you! With love, Christian!

jem@dr.dkHi Joe, I have been watching your site for about half a Year, and I have to say that you´ve been doing - and still are doing - a fantastic job. I´m 40 Years of age and live in Denmark.I´ve been a "fan" since 1972, and ever since I by accident fell over "Back to Front" on our local music library (I thougt it was a good picture on the front), brought the album to my music teacher in school, played "Alone Again" and got padded on the shoulder for having such good taste, I´ve tried hard to get hold of everything Gilbert has released - and I believe I´VE GOT IT ALL!! That is - I haven´t got the video of the concert in Japan, so if anyone could help me as to this............. I went to my first Gilbert concert ever in november last year in Rebild Bakker in Denmark, and it was a great experience althoug Gilbert wasn´t quite on top due to a bit of a "flu". After the concert I had a longer conversation with Gilbert, as I had back in 1992, where I made an interview with him for the local radio, where I worked at the time. The interview was made in connection with the release of "Sounds of the Loop" - his first album in Denmark since 1982, which by the way includes a version of "Can´t think straight" where Gilbert sings duet with the danish singer Kirsten Siggaard. I had the privilege of writing the promotion material for the danish press also. Now I am music director in Denmarks Radio Kanal 94, and this often is a help for me when I try to get hold of CD´s, that unfortunately are not being released in Denmark. Since "Life and Rhymes" only "Sounds of the Loop" has been released in Denmark, so as you can see - it´s a bit hard - and very expensive - for me to get Gilbert´s releases. But then again - what don´t you do to get hold of good music.... That´s all for now. Keep up the good spirit - and the good job you´re doin´.

chris.graves@cableol.co.ukHi Joe
I like your web site. We may be a dying breed but gilbert fans are loyal. I've been a fan ever since "Nothing Rhymed." I've got most of his work: all the old MAM singles and LPs, the video of his 1993 Japan tour. I haven't bought his latest album yet but I will we're off to see him in concert in June at the Beck Theatre in Hayes,Middelsex. This will be the sixth time. We met him when he did a concert in london in 1993 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall got his autograph.
When gilbert moved back briefly to Ireland he actually moved two houses away from my sister. This sounds close but in reality it was about a quarter of a mile away. Although she never met gilbert she regularly met kevin and gilbert's mother and wife.
Well that's just a little insight keep up the good work you can rest assured I have this site bookmarked. If I can be of any help give me a wire! p.s. the e-mail address is my sons.

LaFemGirl@aol.comHi Joe, Like you, I am a big Gilbert O'Sullivan fan. Like you, I have loved his music since the first time I heard "Alone Again Naturally", during the summer of 1972 when I was twelve years old. Most of my friends and my two brothers didn't quite understand my love for his music, neither appreciated his sad sweet songs. "Alone Again", seemed to make the summer of 1972 very special, it gave it its pleasant but meloncholy flavor. I loved those carefree days of bell bottom and flare legged jeans, the Brady Bunch, the Partridge Family, and Scooby Doo. It was a wonderful time of life for me. The small allowance I earned at that time only made it possible for me to buy his 45's. I loved those pretty blue M.A.M records, and the small type that said arranged by Johney Spence and/or produced by Gordon Mills. You know how the song writers name is in parenthesis under the singers name? Well, sometimes it would say O'Sullivan, and sometimes it would say Ray O'Sullivan. I thought, who is Ray? I thought maybe Gilbert had a brother who wrote some songs, but later discovered that Ray was actually Gilberts real name. I bought all the 45's. "Clair", "Out Of The Question", "Get Down", and "Ooh Baby". I would tack the record sleeves that had his photo to my wall. I was born and lived in Knoxville, Tennessee, in those days when A.M. radio was about all people listened too. WNOX was our main pop station, where every Saturday one could hear Casey Kasems American Top 40. Gilbert was to make a personal appearance at the WNOX auditorium in the late summer or fall of 1973 while in town for a concert at the coliseum. I wanted to go so badly but my parents were not able to take me. I was dissappointed that Gilbert virtually disappeared off the record charts after "Ooh Baby". It was such a mystery to me, I wondered how someone that was so talented and made such extraordinary music, could just fade so quickly and vanish from our pop culture. Six years later I couldn't hardly believe it when I found "Off Centre", at a local Record Bar, the popular music store in those days. It was 1981, though I realize the record was originally released from what I've read in 1980. I was so happy to see it and I bought it. I took it home and played it over and over. That spring of 1981, "Off Centre", was about the only thing I listened to. I loved it. I noticed how his stye had changed a lot, I loved the arrangements on his early 70's songs, but I liked his latest work all the same. I still remember the record wrapper, long gone, called it, "The latest triumph by Gilbert O'Sullivan. And that it was. Again, I lost track of him until I found his "Greatest Hits", in record stores in 1992. In the song credits, I noticed some came from albums I had not heard of such as "Frobisher Drive", etc. I have some catching up to do on my Gilbert O'Sullivan collection. At present it consists mostly of the 45's, the albums, "Gilbert O'Sullivan Himself", "Back To Front", "I'm A Writer Not A Fighter", and "Off Centre". Also the cassette tape of his greatest hits. Its so nice to find someone who appreciates Gilberts wonderful music like you. I wish I could also tell Gilbert himself just how much his music has meant to me over the years.
Thanks, take care and write soon. TiffanySteve and Lorraine Matthews

mattinoz@pbq.com.auGreat web page - enjoyed it very much. My wife Lorraine (was Lorraine Krelle before we married) grew up around the corner Gilbert in Swindon. Her friend Elaine Rudman lived next door to Gilbert and used to tell Lorraine about the 'noise' coming from the shed!!!!
If any Gilbert fans (ex Swindon) know either Lorraine Krelle or Steve Matthews please get in touch. We saw Gilberts first ever live Swindon concert at the Wyvern Theatre, when he was a big star. I still remember vividly the impact his song "Clair" had on the audience. He just sat on the front edge of the stage and sang it - unacompanied - an acoustic guitar joined in later in the song. A magic moment.

tstaford@iol.ieJoe, Great site - well done! On the subject of song books (I've been playing GOS songs on the piano since 1972) I used to own two songbooks. One was based on 'Himself' and had most songs except Intro and Outro and had lots of 'James Joyce' look-alike photos. The second included Clair, Alone Again, some of the Back to Front songs etc. and featured pictures of Gilbert taken around Glendalough, Co. Wicklow by the photographer Terry O'Neill. Over the years, I have lost both songbooks so I was interested to see the one listed on your site. I keep an eye out for songbooks in the Dublin music shops but I haven't seen one of Gilbert's in years. By the way, I have noticed at concerts and from playing along with CDs that GOS often transposes his songs up or down a semitone from what the sheet music is. Keep up the good work!

nhaigh@relayer.u-net.comJoe, just a line to say that you have created a beautiful website that is in total harmony with the feelings inspired by Gilbert O'Sullivan. I really love his work of the early seventies and am truly sorry that he had such a bad experience with the music business. Hopefully, he should know via your pages that his music really touched people - and that is the most important aspect of this artform. Whenever I hear the song 'We Will', the hairs on the back of my next stand up - still! I am hoping that more of his material makes it onto MIDI or karaoke format as I would love the opportunity to get out and sing these songs and remind the world just what a great songwriter Gilbert is. Maybe, it's time for a revival or re-appreciation of his work; I hope that he makes your site official, as he can then bypass the current music business and get directly to his fans - I would love to see him tour, even if it was just for old time's sake. Regards and best wishes.

beaudog@slip.netHi there, Just wanted to drop a note to say that you have done a wonderful job with this page. Last year during my trip to Germany, a friend of mine gave me a German CD copy of "Best of Gilbert O'Sullivan". Through it I have re-discovered the wonderful music of this sensational musician. Thank you for this webpage. It is one of only 7 bookmarks I have in my browser. Also, do you think you might be able to include the chords/notes to the lyrics? My fiancee and I love the name "Clair", and wouldn't it be wonderful if I can play this song to our future daughter?

UHEEP2@aol.comYou've been expecting this visit, haven't you? :-) Good job on the G.o'S. web page - for sure. Just listened to Off Center - fantastic album, although very different, more melancholic than its predecessors. Are "Himself" and "I'm a writer" available on CD these days? Hope Gilbert himself is aware of the great job you're doing; hope he visits this site at least once. :-) Cheers! Alex.

darren@datasync.comFrom the first time I heard "Alone Again" it has, and always will be, my all-time favorite song, defining perfectly my life in more ways than one. Every time I hear it, I have to stop dead in my tracks, turn up the volume so I can hear all the subtle nuances, and feel the music controlling my consciousness throughout the duration! I may be exaggerating a little, but only a little. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with great taste in music! I would like to place a link to your site on my page, if that's OK with you. I can see your site taking off in a big way and I hope Gilbert himself appreciates your efforts as much as his fans do!

JKBJLONG@aol.comHi Joe! I just stumbled on to your Gilbert Home Page. I too have been a fan since the beginning of Gilbert's career. I wrote to Gilbert to find out how I could continue to purchase his albums since I could not order his albums anywhere here in the USA. He gave a contact in Japan. I ordered all of his new stuff. I was able to get his "Japan Live" album from a Dutch company for $60. My wife thought I was crazy to spend that much money for a single album. Like you, I can not explain my love of Gilbert's music. He has a great gift for melody. The only CD's I buy are his and Paul McCartneys. It is very difficult to be a fan of his here. Gilbert should make your website his "Official" web site.

tcosta@zeta.org.auDear Joe, You don't know how happy I was to find your Web Site! All I can say is Thank you. As I am also a devoted fan of Gilbert form the very first album. I have updated all his ALBUMS that I had to CD'S. I wish I could help you with something but in Australia finding anything on Gilbert is very hard. What I have discovered is that some Compilation ALBUMS have songs that are new to me.One more thing, do you know about GO"S INFORMATION. Address was on one of his CD's the person to write to is "lorraine". I Wrote and received a reply with some basic info about Gilbert O'Sullivan and some DutchTour dates in: OCT - NOV. If I could go, I would. Again thank you for your "HARD" work in making this site available to the world wide FANS of GILBERT O'SULLIVAN.

Scherzi? E' perfetto. :)

hdh@iaehv.nlHi Joe Your homepage brought back some good memories - I'm originally from Swindon - and Gilbert O'Sullivan is one of our few claims to fame in the entertainment world (along with Diana Dors - and I think Desmond Morris!)
I too was (am?) a Gilbert O'Sullivan fan - though to be quite honest -I was never too keen on his schoolboy image - (though of course it was different - which in the 70's was pretty difficult to accomplish!) I preferred his later image - - and my favourite songs of his are her earlier ones - my particular favourites being Clair and Get Down. I haven't got a lot of his music - just his LP of Back to Front - you know the one where the tea was served by Gordon Jones! LOL!! Hugs, Lynne

bierkrug@erols.comI just visited your website and just wanted to "sign your guestbook". 1972 was my 'coming of age' year, and an incredible year for music.
"Alone Again Naturally" is one of my all time favorite songs. I can still remember the first time I heard it, and for weeks after that I was convinced that it was really Paul McCartney (my musical god) working under an alias. I still enjoy listening to it, I have it on one of those 'Hit's of the 70's CD's. In summary, it is a great song from a great year of music.
