Hugh Miller On the Galway Concert!

Corrib Great Southern Hall, March 26, 2001

....."The concert, it was absolutely fabulous, fantastic...."

Hi ALL!

From one of the lucky ones to see the first concerts, well just to answer a few questions first. I expected Galway to be a poor venue and the trip up there was proof of that as the rain was unrelenting and the conditions were very poor roadwise and also having unreserved seats meant not knowing where you were going to be seated front or back........for us fans it has to be the front, so when I got there I met Brian (THE WEBSITE) King.....He had been there all day and will write in to tell you all about his adventures later. We were among the first in the queue so with Brian doing his Carl Lewis impersonation he got the best chairs in the house, the doors opened and zoom he was gone!

So the concert, it was absolutely fabulous, fantastic and any other word you can mention to say good then use it, the sound was excellent although the back of the hall may not have thought so, (I don't know) but everyone there was enjoying themselves and Gilbert really interacted with the crowd, he spoke at the end of most of his songs to give a brief account of the happenings in his life and the songs we were going to hear next As thing would happen a few mistakes were made one during "Have It" when the sound of the drum machine suddenly went beserk and although he laughed it through he did seem to be annoyed by it... Next the sounds effects for "Who Was It" did not work for him, but did not seem to matter much...But those apart the concert was an outstanding success and he did seem pleased at the end and really enjoyed himself..........

Unfortunately he did not see anybody after the show but he did sign some autographs for some people in his room and probably met a few of the people who knew somebody to get them in. As for London shows then Brian was talking to his brother and he said as of now they are looking for venues and no plans have been made yet but it may be later this year,(which we all knew) I don't think that Gilbert's brother knew anything about the new website but we will ask again and that was it unfortunately so Bring on Limerick Tonight!
