Georgina Flood and the Gilbert Portrait!

">Dublin (3/10): Georgina presents Gilbert with her portrait backstage at the Olympia!

The Portrait's Story!

In early November 2010, Georgina was working on her George Harrison: The Gardner Portrait. She posted her progress to numerous Beatle blogs. Being a Beatle fan myself, I fell in love with the portrait and researched her portraits online. Finally, I decided to contact Georgina, via Facebook, and ask if she had any interest in drawing Gilbert. She replied and agreed but the work would have to wait until the end of January of the new year. We discussed the numerous online sites with Gilbert photos. She made her selection. I noted that Gilbert would be in her home town (Dublin) on March 10th at the Olympia Theatre and she could present him with the portrait after the concert. The portrait was finished just in time but the concert hall was sold out. With less than 24 hours to show time, it was Lorraine Andrews to the rescue! She contacted Kevin O'Sullivan. Georgina told me "I met gilbert at the sound check before the show and he put me on the guest list for the show :D:D I got a boxed seat ! So fab!"<
