Gilbert Shines with A Two And Half Hour Marathon!

Gilbert At The Meet & Greet!

Since the April 26th concert we received many emails and photos concerning the concert. Felix, who traveled all the way from Germany wrote that "it was a nice evening and worth every penny." He was disappointed that tickets were still available at the box office (hoping for a sell-out). Chris & John O'Hare from the UK and Nicole Tonglet from Belgium sent in some great photos some of which are located in MEDIA/News. The one above is from Nicole's collection!

Gilbert took the stage a little after 8PM and it was 11PM when the encore was done. The auditorium was filled with fans from the UK, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, France and some younger fans from the University. Gilbert's Wife Aase, his Brother Kevin, and Lorraine Andrews from Gilbert O'Sullivan Information Worldwide were also in attendance. Apparently, Henry Soderstrom from France was the hit of the evening with a handmade GOS shirt and his I’m A Writer Not A Fighter tattoo. It's obvious that the language barrier is not a problem for dedicated fans.

Gilbert left the stage briefly waving to the audience without saying that this was a break. And then the curtain come down, so many in the audience thought that the show was over and left during the 30 minute intermission! Gilbert’s band included the famous Mick Parker on keyboards, two backup singers, Eve Nyler and Helen Harding, Julian Webster Greaves on sax, harmonica and flute, Julian Berry on double bass and Simon Lee on drums.

Gilbert played a massive number of songs, 35 in all. Piano Foreplay was the clear winner with six tracks. Many fans were disappointed with Gilbert’s latest work and have shelved it. However, Piano Foreplay is a wonderful departure into the world of Jazz and many of the songs are pure gems. Gilbert will be heading to Japan soon as confirmed by our Japanese friends and there is talk that EMI would like to do a DVD to accompany the Berry Vest Of compilation. There will be a mini fall tour of Ireland and North Ireland with November dates already on sale!

About returning to live performances Gilbert said:"With a new album and a "Best Of" on release it's more important than ever to be out there performing live. The current line up makes for an intimate one on one approach and over two hours there is ample opportunity to cover both old and new material, plus I get the chance to meet those people interested in me and my work - always a highlight for me.”
