Gilbert Announces April London Show at Bloomsbury Theatre!
To celebrate the release of his Greatest Hits album The Berry Vest of Gilbert O Sullivan, the renowned singer/songwriter has announced the eagerly awaited details of his first London show for two years.
Gilbert will be playing the Bloomsbury Theatre on 26th April, where he will be joined by a second keyboard player, two female singers and a sax/flute soloist. He has promised a riveting set from his celebrated repertoire, with classics such as “Nothing Rhymed”, “Matrimony”, “Clair” and “Alone Again (Naturally)” alongside tracks from his brand new album Pianoforeplay; which was released towards the end of last year.
About returning to live performances Gilbert said:
“ With a new album and a "Best Of" on release it's more important than ever to be out there performing live. The current line up makes for an intimate one on one approach and over two hours there is ample opportunity to cover both old and new material, plus I get the chance to meet those people interested in me and my work - always a highlight for me.”A recording artist since the late 60s, Gilbert O'Sullivan accumulated no less than fourteen top-forty hits during the 70s, including Clair, Alone Again (Naturally), Get Down & Nothing Rhymed, with number one singles on both sides of the Atlantic, as well as four top-five UK albums. The past few years have seen him return to touring, song-writing and a stage musical, and enjoying a number one hit in Japan.
2004 sees him back again with a new acoustic-based quartet which brings a light jazzy touch to old classics and songs from his latest album. All the classic O’Sullivan ingredients are there: wry lyrical humour and bittersweet melody, with Gilbert’s trademark piano playing to the fore.
